Because of the controversy created by Tavis Smiley regarding Barack Obama and his unofficial leaning toward Hilary Clinton. I, like many others had a lot of reservations the 2008 State of the Black Union. (to get an overview click here)
But its was clear by the second half that many of the panelist did not share the same feeling about the Clinton's as Smiley
